OUR VALUES

Our values are expressed in nine principles and standards that summarize who we are and what we strive to be as a church.  At Stone Ridge, we define these values in three groups: Full Devotion, Contagious Faith and True Community.

1. Full Devotion

We want to be more like Christ
God wants people to know, experience and love Him through acknowledging their sin and accepting God's gift of a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. This leads to a life of joy and fullness with Christ.
(Mark 8:34-38; John 17:3; Philippian.1 3:8-10. John 10:10)

We believe whole-heartedly in the power of prayer.
Personal and corporate prayer deepens our intimacy with God, seeks His intervention in the lives of others and prepares us for His work.  Through our devotion to the discipline of prayer and the study of God's Word we know His will for us as individuals and as a church community.
(2 Chronicles 7:13, 14; Psalm 119:2; Nehemiah 1:4-11; John 10:1-4)

We worship God in spirit and truth.
We are created to worship God with our whole lives, remembering Him with thanksgiving, exalting Him with excellence, balancing truth and spirit in traditional and contemporary forms.
(John 4:23, 24; Psalm 95:1-7; Colossians 3:16, 17; Revelation.4, 5)

2. Contagious Faith

We teach God's Word in its entirety without apology.
Spirit-led teaching of God's Word without compromise is relevant in our culture and transforms our lives, as we come to know Christ more deeply and live out His commands.
(Acts 2:42; Hebrews 4:12)

We reach out to those who do not know God.
God's love compels us to share His truth with others both locally and worldwide, guiding them to become fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 15)

As Christ-followers we use our spiritual gifts to serve others.
Jesus taught and modelled servanthood as the way of life for His followers. God gives us spiritual gifts to be used to serve others and to advance His Kingdom.
(Mark 9:35; John 13:12-15: I Corinthians 12 and 14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4)

3. True Community

Our church is an authentic community.
As a community of Christ's followers, we will form loving, caring and encouraging relationships with each other, carry out our God-given ministry and have fellowship with other Christians.
(Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24, 25)

We honour God with integrity and excellence.

In every activity of our church we seek excellence and give our very best in effort, time and resources to glorify God.
(I Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17.23)

We affirm and nurture the Biblical worth of men, women, children and families.
The Bible establishes unique and complementary roles for men and women; values children as a blessing and heritage from God and ordains the family as a fundamental institution of society.
(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 127; Proverbs 5:18.19; Galatians.3:28; Ephesians 5:25-27; 6:1-4)
